The Kaczocha laboratory has been busy this past year. Graduate student Matthew Elmes published a manuscript in the Journal of Biological Chemistry that identified fatty acid binding proteins as new targets for cannabinoids found in marijuana. His current goal is to extend these findings and define the roles of these proteins in cannabinoid metabolism, which is the subject of his recently submitted F31 fellowship application. Graduate student Gregory Carbonetti continues to make excellent progress on his project to elucidate the roles of fatty acid binding proteins in cancer. The lab has hired Patti Kanjiya as a senior research support specialist and continues to support the research efforts of six undergraduates.
